Man Accused Of Trying To Kidnap Children Near Church Speaks Out

SACRAMENOT (CBS13) - A man accused of grabbing two children in a Sacramento church parking lot and running from parents Saturday afternoon is speaking out.

Churchgoers and witnesses at Calvary Christian Center say 34-year-old Paul Nelson grabbed a five-year-old boy and another two-year-old child and suddenly took off running through the church parking lot.

Nelson admits to picking up a small child in the parking lot, but says the parents misunderstood his intent.

"Grabbed the kids and ran through the parking lot? I never did anything like that in my life. I never ran with anybody's kids. Period," said Nelson.

Several parents were able to wrestle Nelson to the ground and held him there until police arrived.

Nelson is charged with kidnapping, resisting arrest and having outstanding warrants. He's being held on a $2 million bail and is due in court on Tuesday.
