Stockton Man Who Exchanged Gunfire With Officers Dies

STOCKTON (CBS13) – The suspect who was shot in an officer-involved shooting earlier this month in Stockton has died from his injuries, say police.

Officers say they were forced to fire at 28-year-old Carl Lao after he allegedly shot at them on the corner of San Joaquin Street and Church Street on March 4, according to Stockton Police spokesman Officer Joe Silva.

Two Stockton patrol officers and a San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Deputy returned fire.

Lao was hit several times. No officers were injured in the incident.
