Deputies: Boy Faked Kidnapping To Get Out Of Doing Chores

MAGALIA (CBS13) – Deputies say a Butte County boy tried to get out of doing his chores by filing a fake kidnapping report.

The incident happened in the Magalia. Deputies say they were called to Pinehurst Way a little before 5 p.m. Thursday to take a report from a 12-year-old boy who said he had been kidnapped.

The boy told deputies that he had been splitting some wood at his home when he somehow blacked out. When he woke up, he said he was sitting in the woods with a strange person.

He then went on to say that he got away by throwing a rock at the suspect after the strange person threatened him with a gun.

Even with the boy providing a description of the suspect, deputies were a little suspicious about the information.

After a little more investigation, deputies say the boy fessed to making up the story in order to try and get out of doing his chores.

The Butte County Sheriff's Office says they have closed their investigation and are leaving any sort of punishment to be done by the boy's parents.
