Wildfire That Forced Evacuation Of Campgrounds Near Fresno Fully Contained
FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say they have fully contained a Central California wildfire that sent several hundred campers home.
Michael Theune, a spokesman for the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, said Sunday that an evacuation order for Buckeye and Potwisha campgrounds was lifted less than 24 hours after the fire started.
Theune says the fire burned about 20 acres of brush and oak trees in the foothills southeast of Fresno.
He says investigators believe the fire was caused by humans, but it remains under investigation.
Theune says nobody was injured, and no buildings were damaged.
He says the roads are open, but he asks drivers to slow down as firefighters continue to work.
