Low Turnout Expected For Tuesday's Special Sacramento City Council Election

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — It's a political waiting game at Sacramento City Hall a day before an election that will change the face of the Sacramento City Council.

Bruce Pomer and Eric Guerra are trying to close their case for a powerful seat on the city council that could be determined by a small difference in votes.

A low turnout is highly expected on Tuesday since it's an April election affecting a small portion of the city on an expected rainy day.

Craig Powell is president of Eye on Sacramento, and says the decision will be pivotal.

"They've both sent signals that they're their own people, that they are not likely to immediately bolt themselves on to the mayors existing controls or existing control or majority coalition on the council," he said.

Neither Pomer nor Guerra support the public funding for the arena and are weary of the debt the city owes.
