Sacramento Obama Superdelegate Ready To Throw Support Behind Hillary Clinton

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Sacramento Democrat Crystal Strait was a superdelegate for Barack Obama back in 2008, but says Hillary Clinton has her support for 2016.

Clinton announced her candidacy on Sunday.

"I don't think it's a switch," Strait said. "I think in 2008, we broke barriers by electing Barack Obama. I now think the country is ready and willing to shatter the glass ceiling."

Strait was courted by both Clinton and Obama. She chose Obama then for his ability to bring young people into the political process. Now, as a mother, she's supporting Clinton.

"I think the difference for me is just my family," she said. I think about having Tadashi and more from the mom's lens."

Without any other candidates joining the race yet, the race for the Democratic nomination in 2016 seems to be hers to lose.

"I can't imagine anyone, being a serious challenge," Strait said. "I mean the party seems very united and ready for Hillary."
