Elderly Man Found On Fire In Riverbank

RIVERBANK (CBS13) — An elderly man was found on fire on a bench on Wednesday.

The 60-year-old man was found engulfed in flames on a bench in the 2600 block of Patterson Road by someone who called the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District. When fire officials arrived, the flames had been extinguished.

The man was flown from a nearby elementary school to the hospital with second and third degree burns to his chest, head, face and airway.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but is believed to be accidental.
