Metro Fire: Fair Oaks Bluffs Fire Intentionally Set

FAIR OAKS (CBS13) – Authorities believe the fire that burned dangerously close to a Fair Oaks neighborhood was intentionally set.

Sacramento Metro Fire announced late Thursday morning that they have ruled Wednesday's fire to be arson. Investigators say the fire was set in three locations.

The fire burned in the bluffs, threatening homes overlooking the American River. High winds forced the fire uphill.

Firefighters say the fire was stopped because homeowners did their part and maintained 100 feet of defensible space.

Investigators had said there were reports of suspicious activity in the area.

Anyone with information on who may have set the fire is asked to call the Metro Fire tipline at (916) 859-3775.
