Sacramento Girl, 12, Accidentally Shot After Family Member Drops Gun

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A 12-year-old Sacramento girl is expected to recover after accidentally being shot in the leg inside her home Sunday.

The incident happened at at a home on Kyla Glen Court.

Sacramento Police arrested another child in the family for allegedly breaking into the parents' room and undoing a locking device on the weapon.

Police say that child dropped the gun and it went off, hitting the girl.

"All the kids in the neighborhood, all the people are pretty close as far as neighbors go," neighbor Robert Saragoza said. "It's just sad to see that happen to anybody."

The child who took the gun from the room will be charged with burglary, police say. The child's age has not been released.
