Roseville Couple Wins Bahamas Cruise With Misdialed Number

ROSEVILLE (CBS13) — A misdialed number resulted in a phenomenal stroke of luck for a Roseville couple that's still shaking their heads in disbelief.

Dave Tuffanelli needed a haircut.

"He's getting all bushy and everything," his wife Joyce said.

So a few weeks ago, Joyce made an appointment for the retired Roseville grandpa with Christina at Joseph Anthony Salon in Rocklin.

One problem—he forgot what his appointment was.

"He came to me and said 'I can't find the card with the appointment on it,' and I said 'Look on the calendar,' and it wasn't there, and he says, 'Oh, it's not there,' and I says 'You want me to call?,' and he says 'Yeah.'"

And she reluctantly got on the phone and dialed what she thought was the number. She didn't get a salon on the other end of the line.

"Just heard someone screaming," she said.

She kept listening.

"I'm just sitting there on the phone not believing what I'm hearing," she said.

It turns out she called the local number for a nationwide Internet radio contest with The Kiss 101, and she had no idea what she was talking about. All she knew was the 15th caller.

And he's going you've won a trip to the Grand Bahamas and a cruise and he's just goin' on and on," she said. "I was in shock."

She kept laughing after getting a text message explaining how she could get her prize.

"Initially I thought it was a scam," she said.

It wasn't. Records show that she had indeed won a trip for two—a cruise to the Bahamas. They plan to go in a few months to celebrate their 41st anniversary.

But how did that haircut turn out?

"Great," Joyce said laughing. "Good haircut."
