Man Arrested For Allegedly Attacking Janitor After Mistaking Uniform For Gang Color

MADERA (CBS13) – Police have arrested one of two suspects who allegedly attacked a janitor on May 16 in Madera.

The incident happened at a Save Mart store on Howard Road.

Madera Police say the janitor was sweeping the floors when two men pushed him to the ground. The men then broke a wine bottle over the janitor's head.

Police arrested 22-year-old Timothy Arreazola on the charge of assault with a deadly weapon. He is being held at the Madera County Jail on $100,000 bail.

Police believe the men mistook the janitor as a gang member because of his blue uniform.

The janitor suffered significant injuries in the attack, police say.

Surveillance video captured the two suspects walking into the store. Anyone who recognizes the other suspect is asked to call the Madera Police Department at (559) 675-4220. Callers can remain anonymous
