Vandals, Time Take Toll On Tracy's Veterans Park

TRACY (CBS13) — Many in Tracy say a park dedicated to local veterans has fallen into disrepair after vandals and years of use have taken their toll.

The city says it knows about the damage, but doesn't have a solution to the problem at this point.

Gracie Munoz is the best kind of big sister—one who likes to play.

"I like spinning them because it's funny. I can't even see their faces, I just see their bodies just turning," she said.

She's also the kind of big sister who watches out.

"When they fall, it actually scrapes them pretty bad," she said.

Veterans Park on Glenhaven Drive is her family's favorite park, but lately the rubber surface is not so fun.

"I've tripped on it before and it sucks, because I've gotten some in my eye sometimes," she said.

Tracy's parks and recreation employees couldn't be reached on the Memorial Day holiday, but parkgoers hope it's fixed soon.
