Sharks Set To Hire Pete DeBoer As New Head Coach

According to Bob McKenzie of TSN, the San Jose Sharks have come to an agreement with former New Jersey Devils head coach Pete DeBoer as the ninth head coach in franchise history.

His resume includes being a head coach for the Devils from 2011 to 2014 as well as the Florida Panthers from 2008 to 2011. During his time with New Jersey, his team led the league in suffocating defense, allowing the third-least amount of 5-on-5 shots against per minute from 2012 to 2014. Basically, he knows defense - a clear weakness for the Sharks last season.

In 2012 with New Jersey, DeBoer and his team made it all the way to the Stanley Cup finals, only to lose to the Los Angeles Kings. DeBoer, 46,  was a head coach in the Ontario Hockey League for 13 seasons and won two "Coach of the Year" awards.

The contract, nor who he is choosing as his assistants have not been announced yet.
