Sacramento Republic Owners Drawing Inspiration From San Jose Earthquakes Stadium

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) —Sacramento Republic FC owners are taking a closer look at a brand-new stadium for the San Jose Earthquakes as inspiration for its future.

Avaya Stadium features the largest outdoor bar in North America with more than 40 beers on tap, and while grabbing a pint, fans can also power up their cellphones with solar charging stations.

There's really not a bad seat in the house. It features Major League Soccer's steepest seating bowl, meaning, even fans who sit high up, still feel like they're on top of the action. And then there are these red chairs, part of the earthquakes tribute to Silicon Valley.

"We put binary code in the seats in a little red pattern that says, spelled out go EQ, we had a contest to see who could crack that code first-- and somebody cracked that code," said Earthquakes marketing director Jed Mettee.

The stadium also boasts unique sideline suites, a concept giving high-end amenities who still want to be close to the game.

It's the type of stadium Republic investors are envisioning for Sacramento. The team has identified the rail yards as a potential home for an arena if they're granted an expansion franchise.
