Stanislaus County Sheriff's Deputy Accused Of Theft

STANISLAUS COUNTY (CBS13) - Detectives have arrested a Stanislaus County Sheriff's deputy in connection with a theft investigation.

Jose Pacheco, a nine-year veteran sheriff's office, was arrested for allegedly stealing money from the Inmate Welfare Fund. Pacheco was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on charges of grand theft and burglary. He has been placed on administrative leave.

The fund is reportedly used by families of those in custody to pay for education, vocation and rehabilitative opportunities.

"To protect the public's trust and confidence in us, we will always hold our employees accountable to the community we serve and to the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics." said Sheriff Adam Christianson.
