Mayor To Seek $50K Reward After Blind Man Found Decapitated

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) - The mayor of Inglewood says he will ask the City Council to approve a $50,000 reward in the case of a 75-year-old blind man who was found decapitated in his apartment.

The family of Robert Hollis gathered Wednesday at a vigil and pleaded for help in solving the killing.

Police and coroner's officials say the decapitated body was found last week after authorities were asked to check on his well-being. The victim's head has not been found.

Family members say Hollis, a singer and sign maker, didn't have any known enemies. Police haven't identified any suspects or released a motive.

The Los Angeles Times reports Mayor James T. Butts will seek the reward at next week's council meeting.
