Scorching Heat Expected In The Valley Tuesday And Wednesday

A good chunk of Northern California will be in triple-digit territory today and Thursday, and unfortunately we won't have the wind to cool us off.

The good news is temperatures will cool down for the July 4 holiday.

An excessive heat watch has been issued for Butte, Shasta, Sutter and Yuba Counties. Those areas could see temperatures as high as 115. Sacramento is expected to reach its high, 107, around 5 p.m.

Temperatures are expected to cool off back into the 90s on Thursday night.

Rancho Cordova city hall is opening its doors as a cooling center Tuesday. Residents are welcome to use the building from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
