Car Overturns On Highway 50 In Rancho Cordova, Starts Grass Fire

SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) - All lanes on the westbound of Highway 50 are back open after being closed due to a vehicle rollover and fire earlier this morning.

The on-ramp to Highway 50 at Mather Field in Rancho Cordova is also back open.

Around 3:20 a.m., the driver was heading west on Highway 50 when she swerved to avoid debris in the road. The vehicle then overturned, knocked over a light pole and started a small grass fire on the shoulder of the road, according to the CHP.

The fire was contained to about 40 yards.

The 17-year-old driver was able to get out of the overturned car before it caught fire. She reportedly walked away with only minor injuries.
