What's In A Name? Apparently Plenty If You're Named Linda

LINDA (CBS13) - What's in a name? Dozens of women from around the country named Linda have descended on the local town of Linda for their annual L.I.N.D.A. convention.

The legion of Lindas decided to make some memories over their namesake. Every woman in this room has at least one thing in common. Forty-two women from around the country have made the trip to this tiny town near Marysville to celebrate their name: Linda.

And Linda, California is embracing the women with open arms. They're not used to having so much attention.

The group is called L.I.N.D.A., and it stands for Lindas involved in network development association.

Linda Siebert is the head Linda in charge, and the organizer of these annual events that happen in a different city every year. But this is the first time they've landed in a town named after them.

"I just thought it might be fun to see if there was a town in the United States with just the name Linda," said Siebert. "There's Linda Loma, Linda Vista, so I went through all the maps and I found Linda, California. It was the only Linda in the United States.

"Every year you come to a convention then you get one of these pins. I have 18 -- this is my 18th one," said one Linda.

The Lindas range in ages from 89 to 9.

When asked if it's confusing to be around so many Lindas one replies, not really.

"We usually call them, 'Hey Kentucky, or Chicago' or their last name or whatever," said a L.I.N.D.A. member.

The Lindas plan to take a historical tour of all the Linda landmarks, which aren't many, we have to admit.

"We've been to Memphis; we've been to Chicago; we've been to Florida. We are always looking for a new place to go," said a L.I.N.D.A. member.

It's a name that's really taken them places, and a bond that can't be broken.

"They've been doing it for 28 years and we just don't wanna stop because we have so much fun," said a L.I.N.D.A. member.

Besides the photo shoots planned at various Linda locations, the L.I.N.D.A. group will also make a donation to the Linda Fire Department before they leave on Sunday.
