Local Company Infuses Desserts With Locally Made Brews

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Beer lovers might think nothing goes better with their favorite brew than a salty snack, but a new business in Sacramento hopes to change that.

"I started mainly just going to the breweries to taste the beer and it was one of those things I was missing," said Linda Gooch, owner of Sugar & Stout.

Gooch is infusing your favorite desserts with locally made brews.

The business opens tomorrow, and breweries hope it will help set their names apart in Sacramento's growing craft beer scene.

Gooch is the mastermind behind Sugar & Stout, a mobile food service partnering with craft breweries to make sweet concoctions with a little kick.

"When I was drinking the beer I would think, 'Oh this amber ale would be so good in caramel' and 'This stout would taste really great in chocolate.' So I was really inspired by local craft beers," she says.

From an IPA apple pie to a chocolate stout brownie, Linda's unique baked goods quickly grabbed the attention of two brewers in Sacramento, including New Helvetia on Broadway.

"I was working behind the bar, and she came in one day and gave me her business card and actually brought in some of her baked goods," said Iver johnson, tasting room manager at New Helvetia. "I tried this IPA apple pie, and it was phenomenal."

Linda says she hopes people respond well to her idea.

"I'd love to work with all of the breweries in the area. I basically set up like a food truck, so any time there's a food truck or people drinking beer, I would just love to be there," she said.

Sugar & Stout also works with New Glory Brewing and will host the grand opening there on Saturday.
