State Senate Democratic Members Head To Mexico On 4-Day Trip
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- Democratic members of the California state Senate are heading to Mexico for a four-day trip to improve government relations.
Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de Leon's office announced Friday he'll lead a delegation of eight Democrats while the Legislature is in summer recess next week.

His office says the senators plan to discuss climate change and poverty on both sides of the border. Senators are also scheduled to meet with Mexican governors, top lawmakers and the American ambassador to Mexico between Monday and Thursday.
The trip follows Gov. Jerry Brown's trade mission last year and Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto's visit to California.
The Senate Office of International Relations and Consul General of Mexico organized the trip. Senators will pay their way either through personal or campaign funds.
