Lowell Fire Grows To 2,233 Acres, 30 Percent Contained

NEVADA COUNTY (CBS13) — The Lowell Fire, burning in Placer and Nevada Counties, has charred 2,233 acres since Saturday and is 30 percent contained.

An expected wind shift and warmer weather this week will make the fire harder to fight. That shift coming from the north could push flames toward more populated communities.

Mandatory evacuations remain in effect for Red Dog Rd East of Greenhorn Creek, You Bet Road East of Greenhorn Creek, Chalk Bluff and Lowell Hill Roads, according to fire officials.

An evacuation advisory is in place for the Cascade Shores Community. The evacuation center has been set up at First Baptist Church, 1866 Ridge Road, Grass Valley, CA.
