49ers Place Carlos Hyde On Active/Non-Football Injury List

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) Second-year running backCarlos Hyde, who will be counted upon to carry the load following Frank Gore's departure, has been placed on the active/non-football injury list four days ahead of the start of training camp for the San Francisco 49ers.

The team made the announcement Tuesday about Hyde, who had been dealing with a muscle pull - not his hamstring - during offseason activities that coach Jim Tomsula didn't discuss in further detail.

Offensive lineman Daniel Kilgore has been placed on the physically unable to perform list. He underwent season-ending surgery last October on a fractured left ankle.

In addition, San Francisco placed rookie offensive lineman Trent Brown, linebacker Aaron Lynch and wide receiverDeAndre Smelter on the active/non-football injury list. Players placed on each list count against the 90-man roster limit and can be activated at any time before the final cuts of training camp.

Veterans report Friday with the first practice Saturday night at Levi's Stadium.
