Group Drops Lawsuit Challenging Downtown Arena Subsidies
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The plaintiffs in the case against the City of Sacramento over the new downtown arena have dropped their lawsuit.
The agreement, expected to be finalized in court Thursday morning, clears the final legal hurdle for the city's 14-month-old development deal with the Sacramento Kings.
This agreement also clears the plaintiffs of the nearly $100,000 court fee for the case.
The Kings broke ground at Downtown Plaza last fall. The arena, now named Golden 1 Center, is expected to cost about over $500 million and is scheduled to open in October 2016.
