Woman Jumps Or Falls From Bay Bridge To Evade CHP
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Authorities are searching the waters off the Bay Bridge for a woman who either jumped or fell off the guardrail as she was trying to evade the California Highway Patrol.
KPIX-TV reports the incident started Wednesday when officers responded to a collision on Interstate Highway 80 on the Bay Bridge around 2 a.m.
Officers had arrived to find that two women inside the vehicle had fled. A woman that was inside the car made her way to the guardrail while trying to avoid the officers and then fell off the bridge.
The other women were eventually found. It's not clear whether they were arrested.
Authorities say the CHP, the Coast Guard, and Oakland firefighters are searching the waters for the woman.
