Anthony Sadler Waiting For Friends To Return Home Before Sharing Story

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A Sacramento State student who helped stop an attack on a Paris-bound train spoke for the first time since returning home on Wednesday.

Anthony Sadler didn't take questions from reporters because he wants to wait for his two friends to come back to the United States first so they can answer questions together.

But with interest as high as it is in Sacramento, Sadler agreed to speak briefly.

"After such a crazy few days it feels good to be back on American soil, but especially in Sacramento," he said. "It's kind of overwhelming for me I didn't expect all this to happen."

Sadler spoke for only 30 seconds before stepping away from the microphone.

Mayor Kevin Johnson praised Sadler, then gave him a good-natured ribbing for what he was wearing the day the world's media descended on him.

"All the pictures of you over in Europe and you had a Lakers jersey on," he said.

Johnson presented Sadler with a Kings jersey in front of cameras.

Now Sacramento has a parade to plan. California lawmakers are working with the city and county on the route that's expected to end at the state Capitol and include a military jet flyover.
