Boy, 4, And Grandmother Recovering After Drive-By Shooting In Rancho Cordova

RANCHO CORDOVA (CBS13) – Deputies are investigating a shooting that has injured a woman and a young child.

The incident happened around 5 a.m. Thursday at an apartment complex along the 10500 block of Croetto Way, off of Mills Park Drive and Folsom Boulevard. Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies say the incident is a possible drive-by shooting.

Both a woman and a 4-year-old boy were hit by gunfire. They have been taken to the hospital and are said to be recovering.

The woman is said to be the boy's grandmother.

A neighbor says he first heard two gunshots, then heard five more after he went for cover.

"I heard two gunshots, dropped to the floor and crawled into my bathroom," he said.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident and not they are questioning one man, but have not named a suspect.

Editor's note: Deputies are now saying the boy is 4, not 5 as previously reported.
