Move Over, McWhopper; AP Tests Its Own Fast-Food Mashups

What do you get when you wrap a crunchy beef taco from Taco Bell in a Pizza Hut personal pie? A Gordizza.

That was one of the three fast-food mashups The Associated Press tested this week in an experiment that wasn't entirely revolting -- at least to our taste buds.

Fast-food mashups aren't new, but the idea got a surge of attention last week when Burger King proposed a truce with McDonald's by offering to join forces and make a "McWhopper." McDonald's shot down the idea, but it got people chattering about other greasy possibilities.

Here are our mashup ideas:

DUNKINATOR

That's what you get when you insert a glazed doughnut from Dunkin' Donuts into a Baconator burger from Wendy's. It was the favorite of our taste tester, who liked the combination of sweet and salty.

GORDIZZA

It turns out a Taco Bell taco fits perfectly inside a folded personal pie from Pizza Hut. It looks like this mashup was meant to be, but our taste tester disapproved. Too much bread and salt in one bite.

MASHED POTATO FOOTLONG

This was the most divisive concoction: A veggie Footlong from Subway stuffed with a KFC bowl (mashed potatoes, gravy, cheese and popcorn chicken).

Carb lovers liked the idea, others found it gross. Our taste tester approved.
