GOP Presidential Candidate Ben Carson Speaking In San Francisco On Flat Tax, Climate Change

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson is heading to San Francisco to discuss why he believes he should win the Republican nomination.

The retired neurosurgeon also plans to explain why he advocates for a flat tax and is opposed to the Iran agreement during a Tuesday appearance in San Francisco hosted by the Commonwealth Club of California.

The club says he'll also talk about why the Climate Change debate is "irrelevant," and why he believes there should not be federally determined standards for education.

The soft-spoken Carson is emerging in polls as a top-tier candidate in the Republican presidential field. But that rise is being eclipsed by the headline-grabbing Donald Trump.

Carson's genial way of politicking, however, is proving to be a draw for voters who like Trump's status as an outsider but not his belligerence.
