Roseville Gas Station Wall Of Shame Aims To Stop Alleged Thieves From Striking Again

ROSEVILLE (CBS13) — A gas station in Roseville has covered a wall with pictures of suspected bad guys taken with the store's 16 surveillance cameras.

It's just a normal gas station in Roseville, until you're inside.

If you steal a pack of gum, your picture is going up on the wall and you will be made fun of.

Chris Egly calls it his wall of shame.

"Pretty much public shame," he said. "Most of these people have no shame they don't care."

Picture after picture of candy lovers …

"He stole a box of Kit-Kats I'm going, 'He should be stealing Slim Fast not Kit-Kats,'" he said.

… or alleged donut swipers.

"So you were dropping by the Hostess rack and they just jumped in your purse?"

Some of the pictures date back to 2008, but only a single suspect has been caught.

"They may not get arrested now, but eventually the do come into our fold in the justice system because they don't just stop with one," said Roseville Police officer Nicholas Gaines.

For now, customers join the fun.

The Roseville Police Department thinks the wall is a good idea and encourages more gas stations to do the same.
