Jarryd Hayne Gains Sponsor, Joins Steph Curry

According to

" target="_blank"> Twitter, the Bay Area boosted another superstar as Jarryd Hayne, former Australian rugby star, signed a deal with Under Armor as a sponsor.

Yes, Under Armor. Not Nike, the current 49ers' uniform makers, or Adidas. Under Armor has risen to become the cream of the crop in terms of sponsorship's. After signing Stephen Curry a few years ago and golf superstar Justin Speith more recently, Hayne looks to join an already popular group of athletes.

In Australia, Hayne has been the Michael Jordan of rugby for several years. Already at 27-years-old, Hayne is old for a rookie in the NFL, but after making the team after playing football for the first time this summer, he is quickly picking up popularity in the U.S.

He may not be done picking up sponsors - there aren't many Australian football players in the NFL and none of them are as popular "down under" than Hayne. My guess is Fosters and Outback Steakhouse take the opportunity to sign their country's most popular spokesperson. If he has a sense of humor, then joining Michael Jordan for promoting Haynes underwear would be a nice option, or perhaps become the new "Jarryd" at Subway. Too soon?
