Body Found In Pond Near Rocklin Library

ROCKLIN (CBS13) — Larry DeGallery was driving by the Rocklin library this morning when he noticed police officers surrounding a nearby pond.

"I thought, 'What's going on here;' that I saw the crime scene tape," he said. "I drove by a couple of times for the second time I drove by they were pulling the body out."

Police say someone walking to the Rocklin library made the grisly discovery just after 9 a.m. on Tuesday,

That pond is an old quarry sitting right next to the library along a busy Rocklin road.

Investigators searched the area looking for clues while the Placer county sheriff dive team recovered the body. Adding to the mystery, The pond is surrounded by a tall black fence.

The situation is unsettling for many people who aren't sure what to make of the discovery, only that's its highly unusual.

The coroner will try to identify the body. In the meantime police are checking missing person reports.
