Body Found In South Sacramento Being Called 'Suspicious'

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Sheriff's detectives are investigating the discovery of a body on Monday morning in South Sacramento.

Around 9 a.m., a passerby found the body of a woman near the railroad tracks just north of Calvine Road. When deputies arrived, they confirmed the woman had died and say she head trauma, according to a Sacramento County Sheriff's Department statement.

Nearby residents say they heard gunshots on Sunday night. Investigators are not saying whether the woman was shot.

The area where the body was found is near some homeless camps.

The woman's identity is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
