Folsom Lake Reaches Lowest Level In 20 Years As Hopes For Wet El Nino Strengthen

FOLSOM LAKE (CBS13) — On Thursday, Folsom Lake reached its lowest level in 20 years.

People who came out to see the historic low ironically got hit with a few raindrops, though not enough to bring up the levels.

Patrick and Cynda Rennie say it was a mile walk from the reservoir parking lot to the water.

The lake is at 17 percent capacity when it typically is at 31 percent.

The low level comes as the National Weather Service issued an El Nino prediction of above average rain for Northern California this winter. Even with that prediction, California's four-year drought won't be fixed in a year.

But there's at least hope California's water losses can be stemmed, at least for one year.
