SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — "Star Wars" fever is alive and well two months ahead of the release of the next installment in the franchise.
Tickets for "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" went on sale two months ahead of the movie's release at around 5 p.m. on Monday.
All opening night showings at Sacramento's Esquire IMAX were sold out within minutes as their Internet ticket sales provider Veezi, buckled under the enormous demand. By 7 p.m., the entire opening weekend was sold out.
"The Force Awakens" is the first new installment in the Star Wars franchise since 2005 or 1983, depending on who you're talking to and how they felt about the prequels.
