Second Sexting Case At Ponderosa High Involves Student Showing Off Nude Photos

SHINGLE SPRINGS (CBS13) — A teenage boy is in custody after what appears to be another case of sexting at Ponderosa High School.

School resource officers found a naked picture of an underage girl on a student's phone. The 16-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly showing other students the photos on Tuesday.

Further investigation revealed the same teen had allegedly touched another female student inappropriately on campus the day before.

"It's appalling I'm floored that as a parent were not taking more responsibility for our children and finding out what they're doing," said school bus driver Nancy Rash.

The incident comes on the heels of another pornographic incident at the school involving students. Two teenage boys were arrested for circulating a sex tape on campus. The tape was of a male and female student—both minors—engaging in sex acts.

The boys were arrested on charges that included possession and distribution of child pornography and suspicion of sexual exploitation of a child.

Currently California doesn't have any specific sexting laws, so under state law, anyone of any age who takes, sends, or receives explicit images of a minor is charged under the state's child pornography laws. Each conviction is a felony that could lead to being added to a sex offender registry.
