CHP: Groveland Man Among 5 Dead In Fiery Crash East Of Groveland
UPDATE: The driver of the Nissan Maxima has been identified as Marcos Lopez Martinez, 22, of Groveland, according to the California Highway Patrol.
His passenger, Sasha Magana, 22, of Merced, was flown to Memorial Hospital with major injuries.
Identifications of the four deceased in the Mercedes SUV are still pending notification of family.
An earlier version of this story identified the deceased in the Nissan as being from Merced, per CHP reports.

TUOLUMNE COUNTY (CBS13) — Five people died in an accident in Tuolumne County on Saturday.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2012 Nissan Maxima and a 2012 Mercedes collided for unknown reasons on State Route 120.
The driver of the Mercedes and three passengers were all pronounced dead at the scene. A fourth passenger was flown to Doctors in Modesto with major injuries

Officers have not ruled out alcohol as a factor in the crash. The CHP has reported one of the cars crossed the median, but has not specified which one.
