2 Teens Killed In Crash On Highway 49 In El Dorado County
EL DORADO COUNTY (CBS13) - Two teens were killed and at least one other person was injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 49 Tuesday morning.
Just after 6 a.m., a Ford Focus driven by an 18-year-old female was headed northbound on Highway 49 near China Hill Road when it reportedly crossed the center lane and hit a Toyota Corolla heading southbound. The vehicle then struck a Honda Civic, according to CHP spokesperson Ofc. Quinn Cuthbertson.
The driver of the Focus, Gabriella Briceno of El Dorado, and a passenger in the same car, 18-year-old Ernesto Aguilar of Placerville, died at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries. It's unknown if the driver of the Civic was injured.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
All lanes of traffic in the area have since reopened.
