Kings Fall Short Against Warriors, 103-94
The Sacramento Kings were unable to stop their slide without DeMarcus Cousins, losing to the Golden State Warriors 103-94 Saturday night at Sleep Train Arena.
Sacramento turned in one of the better efforts this year against the defending champs, limiting Golden State to just eight three-pointers on thirty-nine attempts, with Steph Curry connecting on just 2 of 10 from long range. Curry also committed six turnovers, but still finished with a game-high 24 points.
Sacramento trailed by eight points at halftime, but started the third quarter on a 6-0 run to pull within two. The Kings briefly took the lead midway through the fourth, but relinquished that lead when Curry finally connected on his first three-pointer of the night, putting Golden State ahead for good.
Rajon Rondo delivered his 23rd career triple-double with 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 15 assists in the losing effort. Marco Belinelli and Rudy Gay each had a team-high 22 points for the Kings, who were also without Darren Collison (hamstring).
Sacramento (1-6) will welcome the return of DeMarcus Cousins on Monday, when they host the Spurs.
