Family, Friends Hold Vigil For Woman Shot And Killed In Stockton

STOCKTON (CBS13) – Shylee Martinez was just 21-years-old, young woman just days shy of celebrating another birthday.

But Friday night, Shylee and a 29-year-old male friend were shot at during a house party on Jill Circle in Stockton. She was killed in the shooting.

Sunday night, friends and family gathered to remember Shylee's life.

"I keep waiting for her to come home," said Shylee's mother. "This was not supposed to happen. I'm not supposed to bury my daughter at 21 years old."

Shylee was about to start a new job at Target. Her mom says she was full of life.

"She was very happy, loved to joke around. She was a good girl," her mom said.

Martinez's mother says according to police, the gunmen showed up in a red car. No other details are known as to why the shooting occurred.

Stockton Police detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.
