Sacramento Sheriff Investigating Possible Double Homicide

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Sacramento Sheriff's Department homicide detectives are investigating what they are calling a possible double homicide that occurred on the 3500 block of Edison Avenue in Sacramento on Saturday.

Sacramento Sheriff's Deputy Tony Turnbull says the Sheriff's Communication Center received multiple 911 calls reporting the sound of gunfire.  Deputies responded and found a 43 year old male victim with multiple gunshot wounds.  Sacramento Metro Fire Department transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Around the same time as the initial 911 calls, a 30 year old male was also transported to a local hospital by private vehicle, and later died from his injuries.  Sheriff's investigators are trying to determine whether the two deaths are related.

Sacramento Sheriff's Investigators say three subjects were seen fleeing the area of the shooting and got into a dark colored compact car.  The car was seen driving west on Edison Avenue towards Watt and a handgun was recovered at the scene.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Sacramento Sheriff's Department at (916) 874-5115 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP.  Anonymous tips can be left at the Sacramento Sheriff's Website, texted to 274637 and entering the keyword "SSD" or by calling (916) 874-TIPS.
