3 Homes Damaged By Fire In North Highlands

NORTH HIGHLANDS (CBS13) - A fire house fire has spread to two other homes in North Highlands.

Crews from the Sacramento Metro Fire Department are in a neighborhood in the 5800 block of Georgia Drive, battling the fires, according to a statement from the department.

A neighbor says they heard an explosion just before the fire. Three people who were inside the homes when the fires started were able to get out safely.

Power lines are also down in the area.

A Sacramento Metro Fire Department chief was involved in a crash with another vehicle on Watt Avenue at A Street while heading to the fire, according to CHP spokesperson Ofc. Chad Hertzell.

It's unknown if the chief or anyone in the other vehicle were injured.
