Person Found Dead After Fire At Modesto-Area Hotel

MODESTO (CBS13) - Authorities are investigating after a person was found dead in a hotel that caught fire early Saturday morning.

The scene was along South 9th Street. According to the Modesto Fire Department, crews were called to the scene around 5:30 a.m. One unit was completely damaged by flames, while about a dozen other units suffered varying amounts of damage.

A person, only identified as a woman, was found dead in the room that was completely damaged. It is unclear what caused the fire.

Detectives from the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office are investigating the incident.
