Kings Show Support For Paris, Family Of Slain Grant HS Athlete
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (CBS13/AP) - DeMarcus Cousins scored 10 of his 36 points in the fourth quarter and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Sacramento Kings to their third straight win, beating the Toronto Raptors 107-101 on Sunday night.
Rudy Gay had 26 points and Omri Casspi added 14 for Sacramento, which won despite committing 20 turnovers that led to 20 points. Rajon Rondo had seven points, 14 assists and seven rebounds, but also had seven turnovers.
DeMar ReRozan scored 24 points, and Kyle Lowry made six 3-pointers while adding 22 points and seven assists for the Raptors. DeMarre Carroll made four 3s and had 17 points and reserve Kyle Cory Joseph also scored 17.
The Kings outscored the Raptors 14-2 over the final 3:22 - including the final 11 points of the game.
The Raptors, who entered the game shooting 33 percent on 3s, made 15 of 33 against the Kings' lax perimeter defense.
Cousins, who averaged 36.5 points in the previous two games, had a fabulous first half, making three 3s and scoring 23 points.
Trailing most of the fourth, the Kings used a 13-2 run to go ahead 104-101 when Cousins scored in close with 25.7 seconds left. McLemore gave the Kings a one-point lead on a twisting layup.
Ahead by three points entering the fourth quarter, the Raptors scored seven straight points to stretch their lead to 10.
The Raptors converted 7 of 9 3-pointers in the third quarter, including three each by Lowry and Carroll, in outscoring the Kings 31-26 to take an 82-79 lead going into the fourth.
IN REMEMBRANCE
After news broke Saturday that Cousins had offered to pay for the funeral of a student athlete shot and killed in Sacramento this week, the boy's family made an appearance at Sleep Train Arena.
Cousins originally intended for his offer to be a secret. However, city leaders revealed his act at a vigil for "JJ" Clavo on Saturday.
After Sunday's game, Cousins spoke to media about the his motivation behind the act.
"I do have relations with people in that area," Cousins said. "It just touched home for me. It wasn't really about me, it was more about the family, more about the kid."
Further, a number of Kings players showed their support for Paris by drawing an Eiffel Tower image on their shoes. The image, which has become a symbol of solidarity with the Paris after a horrific terrorist attack, could be seen on the shoes of Rudy Gay and Ben McLemore.

Raptors: Lowry has at least one steal in every game this season and ranked third in the league entering Sunday's game. ... Patrick Patterson is the only one still in Toronto from a seven-player deal with the Kings in December 2013 that brought Gay to Sacramento. The Raptors are 97-59 since the trade.
Kings: Rondo had four of the Kings' eight turnovers in the first quarter and had six by halftime. ... Valuable reserve point guard Darren Collison (hamstring strain) missed his fifth straight game. ... Rookie Willie Cauley-Stein started the game and received a blow to the head in the first quarter. Although not showing signs of a concussion, he didn't play again as a precautionary measure.
