Hawks Soar Past Kings, 103-97

With the Atlanta Hawks having lost three straight, the Kings hoped they could keep their momentum going against a slumping Eastern Conference power.

That didn't turn out to be the case.

Paul Millsap had 23 points and 16 rebounds, while Dennis Schroder scored 22 in place of the injured Jeff Teague to lead the Hawks over the Kings 103-97 in Atlanta on Wednesday night.

The Kings started the night strong, jumping out to a 30-27 lead after one quarter, but the Hawks would close the first half on an 11-2 run en route to outscoring the Kings by 13 in the second quarter.  Sacramento allowed just 41 points in the second half and shot 44% as a team overall, but were unable to overcome their 21 turnovers.  Atlanta committed just twelve.

DeMarcus Cousins had 24 points and 12 rebounds for Sacramento (4-8), but may be facing a call from the league office after landing a vicious elbow to the face of Al Horford. The play went unnoticed by officials.

The Kings continue their season-high five-game road trip tomorrow in Miami.
