Call Kurtis: Dish Network Put Holes In My New House

ELK GROVE (CBS13) - Moving into their custom-built home, Elk Grove resident Jennifer Hua says right away they had their satellite service transferred. However, the satellite installer cut corners and drilled holes all over her new house.

Jennifer says the technician left behind damage and even a potential hazard, "ten holes," she said.

Dish Network left ten holes in the side of her brand new custom home, "it's ridiculous," said Jennifer.

She says the first contractor sloppily installed the black cable inside of the rain gutters and crookedly ran it down the side of her house.

"They didn't even clip it or anything they just literally threw it inside the gutter," she said.

When Jennifer complained to Dish, they returned rerouting the cable and she was pleased with the cleaner, more professional job.

However, she says the company refuses to fill the ten holes, left behind, and she worries they could lead to water damage.

"I wouldn't have left it like this," said Christopher Miller, owner of "Add a Jack."

He says it would take ten minutes and $2 of putty for a Dish technician to fill the holes and says you never install cables in rain gutters.

"It can rust it and over years eventually it's gonna fail," he said.

However, Dish told Jennifer, she signed a release, which says they are "harmless from any damage," including "drilling holes in walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs."

We reached out to Dish, which told us its policy is to "discuss the appropriate location for the Dish antenna prior to installation. Once installation is complete, customers are asked to review the technician's work."

But Jennifer says the installer never asked her to inspect the work.

We repeatedly reached out to Dish asking them if the company plans to fill the holes in the side of Jennifer's house but we were told they "cannot discuss private details of a customer's account."

Jennifer says her days with the satellite company might be limited.

"I think I'm going to Direct TV," she said.

Additionally, we have heard from people who say when they signed the release it was on a cell phone or tablet, and did not really get to read everything they signed or agreed to.

Jennifer says she did not' realize she was releasing them of all liability even if they damaged her house.
