Overnight Apartment Fire Kills Elderly Man In Arden Arcade
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- An elderly man was killed Saturday in a fire at a fourplex in the Arden Arcade neighborhood of Sacramento.
Sacramento Metro Fire Department firefighters were dispatched to apartments in the 800 block of Cathedral Court just after 3:30 a.m. and found smoke billowing out of the first floor of a two-story unit.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire before it could spread to other units. Crews are investigating the cause of the fire.
Captain Michelle Eidam of Sacramento Metro Fire Department says Red Cross workers were dispatched to help the 12 residents who were displaced by the fire.
The identity of the man who was killed has not been released.
Damage is estimated at $25,000.
