by Russell Preston, KHTK Sacramento

The NHL released its weekly "Three Stars of the Week" and on top at first star is none other than San Jose Sharks goaltender Martin Jones.

After going 3-0 with a 1.63 GAA and one shutout, Jones beat out Daniel Sedin of the Vancouver Canucks (five goals, two assists) and Kevin Shattenkirk of the St. Louis Blues (two goals, four assists).

With the Sharks finishing their road trip at 6-0, there are many other candidates playing around Jones who have been hot as well. Both Brent Burns and Patrick Marleau scored three goals and two assists each last week in just four games.

Jones, 25, is in his first year with San jose and his first full season as a starting goalie. This season he has posted an 11-5 record, 2.02 GAA and a .928 save percentage.
