Athletics, Left-Hander Doubront Reach $2M, 1-Year Deal

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Left-hander Felix Doubront has agreed on a $2 million, one-year contract with the Oakland Athletics, a deal that includes $500,000 in guaranteed money and avoids salary arbitration.

The A's announced the contract Wednesday after trading lefty Drew Pomeranz to the San Diego Padres along with minor league lefty Jose Torres and either a player to be named or cash for first baseman Yonder Alonso and reliever Marc Rzepczynski.

Doubront pitched for Toronto and Oakland last season, going 3-3 with a 5.50 ERA in 12 starts and four relief appearances.

The A's declined to offer a contract to first baseman Ike Davis, who becomes a free agent.

Oakland had a majors-high 12 arbitration-eligible players but general manager David Forst said the club has budgeted to sign them, saying, "payroll's not an issue."
