Sonora Man Arrested For Vehicle Theft

SONORA (CBS13) - A Sonora man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly stealing a car and crashing it.

Just before 9 p.m., police received a call from someone saying a man had stolen their 1999 Honda Civic from behind the Inns of California, according to a statement from the Sonora Police Department. As the man was driving away, he reportedly crashed it, making it undrivable.

Police arrested Michael Agamau, 29, of Sonora, a short time later. They say he also had a laptop that was reported stolen in the Groveland area during a recent vehicle burglary.

Agamau is on felony probation for evading police in Merced County. He was booked into Tuolumne County Jail on charges of felony vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, and felony violation of probation.
